For the last 47 years, Tom has been involved in woodworking in one capacity or another — from designing and building custom homes to crafting custom cabinetry to his current passion: artful woodturning. Simultaneously, he served with the National Park Service for nearly 30 years.
Tom states “My personal philosophy of woodworking, has always been to provide a ‘second life’ for precious timber resources as enhancements to our daily lives. I particularly enjoy
fulfilling commissions — projects that provide deep personal connections for my patrons.”
Tom enjoys foraging in the Great Pacific Northwest for much of the wood he uses in creating his woodturned art. He strives to use species, grains, and figures that are uniquely intriguing in
rustic, yet elegant finished pieces.
Tom received recognition in the 2020 and 2021 Instant Gallery sections of the American Association of Woodturners Symposium; he also won a Best of Show, two First Place and one Second Place awards for Driftwood Woodturnings and Driftwood Sculpture, respectively. He
has been a member of the American Association of Woodturners since the early 1990’s. He is also a member of Associated Arts of Ocean Shores.
You can find Tom’s art at the Tim Rossow and Associates Art Gallery in Ocean Shores.
